What exactly lets the flower corsage stay attached to a prom dress?
I need to get a corsage for my prom date on Friday and I'm curious if I could just make my own since I'm kind of poor. So I was wondering what really attaches the flower to the dress? is it just a pin? if so how easy would it be to just make my own?
Answer:
Oh no! This is not just ANY pin that attaches a corsage; it is actually a hat pin, one with a large, rounded head. The pin has to be THICK or else it won't hold the weight of the flower and "extras".
Making your own corsage would be as simple as choosing a flower (very, VERY fresh or not fully open) that you really like (small, understated is better than a huge flower!). I would use perhaps a nice LACE ribbon; just a bit, again understated and not overstated so it doesn't look like a home craft project!
You can experiment before hand; perhaps try spraying a flower with SPRAY GLITTER or using a hot glue gun to attach rhinestones or other faux gems to the ribbon.
Another thought; visit a fabric store and check out the NOTIONS; small embroidry pieces and fine lace. Even feathers might compliment what you are trying to do.
