Compass Rose Expedition to the Pantanal

Bridge over river Why

Come explore the Pantanal of Brazil, a complex system of habitats that are undergoing change. In order to understand this change you must find out what makes this region unique, what forces are bringing about this change and why it is an area of the planet worth saving.
Perhaps the animals and plants of this remote part of the world will hold the cures to deadly diseases like AIDS and cancer.
Visit CNN and read "Could the species discoveries of tomorrow lead to cures for disease?"

On April 13, 2006 six students from York High School made the long journey deep into the heart of this wilderness in order to assist scientists as they struggle to understand and protect this dynamic collection of ecosystems. Grab your sunscreen and bug repellant and let's explore the Pantanal!
